She’s Clean Leads 2014 Bright Shadow Handicap Field

Chris Waller’s progressive mare She’s Clean leads a decent field of fillies and mares facing off in the Bright Shadow Handicap 2014 on Queensland Oaks Day this Saturday.

Running as Eagle Farm Race 4 at 1:45pm, this year’s $100,000 Channel Seven Bright Shadow Handicap (1200m) features a final field of 10 hopefuls.

Carrying the 59kg topweight of the field is Redoute’s Choice five-year-old She’s Clean to be ridden by Nash Rawiller from barrier four.

She’s Clean comes via a first-up fourth behind 2014 Stradbroke Handicap-bound filly Srikandi in the Listed Junamo Stakes (1200m) from May 17 where she carried one kilo less than her hefty allocation this weekend.

A multiple stakes winner in Sydney, She’s Clean was competitive in Brisbane last winter when fifth behind stable mate Red Tracer in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).

Getting back to the roomier Eagle Farm track then should suit her on Saturday even if the weight is a big ask.

Other Junamo graduates in the mix then include the Kelly Doughty-trained Gold Coast galloper Little Brown Horse (5th) and Gary Portelli’s Sydney visitor Single Style who ran sixth on the back of some average form back home.

The only other Bright Shadow hope above the 54kg minimum along with She’s Clean then is then Kelly Schweida’s local Show A Heart mare Discreet (55kg).

The four-year-old has won six of her 24 starts to date but hasn’t raced since suffering cardiac arrhythmia when second last in the Listed Travel Associates Classic (1200m) at Doomben last November.

She’s got a good record at Eagle Farm however and runs well fresh and has had two lead-up trials.

Sunshine Coast trainer Stuart Kendrick meanwhile saddles up two chances in the event with Sari and Avaladyluck drawn in barriers three and five respectively.

Exceed And Excel four-year-old Sari won back-to-back races, including one over 1000m at Eagle Farm, earlier in the autumn.

She flopped at the Gold Coast last time out on May 3 however when 11th behind Srikandi in the Listed Silk Stocking (1200m), an effort Kendrick believes she’ll improve on when back on firmer ground.

The stable mate Avaladyluck meanwhile raced just last Saturday in the Listed Chief De Beers Handicap (1100m) against the boys when sixth behind Cape Kidnappers.
