Adelaide race fans are today treated to an exciting eight race program at Morphettville to see out the official end of the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival with The Goodwood Day 2014 lighting up the track.

While in Brisbane for BTC Cup Day the track conditions are prime with Doomben currently rated a Good (3), in South Australia things aren’t looking so good for those gallopers that prefer to run on top of the ground.
The rail is out 3m from the 1200m mark to the winning post today with the course proper at Morphettville Racecourse currently rated a Heavy (8).
The good news however is there is a zero chance of rain there today and that gives the track a good chance to dry out some before the day’s major, the $500,000 Group 1 The Tapestry Wines Goodwood (1200m) at 3:30pm (local).

The 2014 The Goodwood runs as Race 7 this afternoon and will feature a below capacity field after a number of early scratchings.
Coming out of the original starting 20 are #15 Esprit De Bullet for John Hyam and Phillip Stokes’ in-form local #17 Éclair Big Bang who is out with a sore throat.
The wet weather also saw Stokes take out second emergency, Lucky Symbol, meaning there will only be 19 facing off today.
First emergency who now gets their chance is smart three-year-old Classy Jack a $51 outsider despite their third in the Euclase Stakes last Saturday.
The Goodwood betting meanwhile is currently led by last weekend’s Euclase Stakes winner Miracles Of Life ($7.50), last year’s Blue Diamond champ racing for the last time before going under the hammer as a broodmare prospect later this month.
Group racing is on the cards in Adelaide right from the get go today meanwhile with the youngsters kicking it off at 11:55am (local) for the $115,000 Group 3 Darley National Stakes (1200m).
Things wind up just over four hours later at 4:10pm with the fillies and mares closing the show in the $115,000 Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) where there are three notable scratchings including Kneeling for Peter Moody.
