This Saturday a field of potential Queensland Oaks fillies will face off in the Gold Coast Bracelet 2014 on Hollindale Stakes Day.

The fourth race at the meeting, this year’s $125,000 Listed H. Harvey Prestige Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m) has drawn a capacity field of 14 starters plus five emergencies waiting for a scratching to get in.

It’s set to be a hotly contested affair too with the bookies having a hard time separating the favourites, many of which are also nominated for the $400,000 Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on May 31.

There are currently four fillies sitting top of the Gold Coast Bracelet markets paying either $5 or $5.50 to win this traditional Oaks lead-up.

Sharing $5 favouritism in the latest odds are Paris Match and Asadasukaite drawn at opposite ends of the field with barriers 18 (into 13) and three respectively.

The Anthony Cummings-trained Street Cry filly from Sydney Paris Match may be out in the car park but she’s got time and class to overcome the horror draw and get the job done for her first win since January.

She comes off a run in the mud at Randwick from April 12 when fourth behind Arabian Gold in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes (2000m) and will be better on firmer ground against an easier field here.

Asadasukaite for Michael Moroney meanwhile is up in grade here seeing their first Black Type field after winning over the 1800m at Kensington by an impressive three and a quarter lengths on April 14.

Hot on the co-favourites heels at $5.50 are then the rails-drawn Quest For Peace and the in-form Little Bit Ditsy.

Toby Edmond’s locally-trained Hard Spun filly Quest For Peace, with Melbourne form from earlier in the year, comes off a run at Brisbane from April 19 when runner-up behind Best Yet To Come in a very close edition of the Listed Princess Stakes (1600m).

Little Bit Ditsy meanwhile is due to be ridden by Michael Cahill in gate seven, Kelly Schweida’s daughter of Bel Esprit having also run in the Princess Stakes when a quarter length off the winner in third.

Outside of the single-figure fancies in the Gold Coast Bracelet field and markets are then a number of other live wire chances including Queen Of The Lochs ($10) and market mover Chop Chop ($11).

Fourth in the Princess Stakes, Bradbury’s Luck grey Queen Of The Locks will be ridden by Tegan Harrison from a tidy gate two draw on the weekend looking to return to the form that saw her defeat Little Bit Ditsy over 1400m two back.

Chop Chop then has been in the headlines ahead of her Australian race debut in the Bracelet, Shaune Ritchie’s New Zealand raider looking to secure an Oaks bid here.

The Guillotine grey comes via a Group 1 run back home having finished fourth to Miss Mossman in the NZ Oaks (2400m) on March 15, so must handle less ground here.

The best of the rest paying under $20 for an upset are then Some Call Her Wild ($13), Performia ($13), Tinto ($15) and Sister Souss ($17) who all come off unplaced runs in the Princess Stakes.
