Following a good second in Adelaide, Stephen Theodore’s Cranbourne-based filly Lady Lakshmi heads to Sydney this Saturday for a shot at the JHB Carr Stakes 2014 at Randwick Racecourse.

The daughter of Lonhro is one of a dozen three-year-old fillies making up the final field for this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Bacardi Untameable J H B Carr Stakes (1400m) running as the seventh race on the program at 4:05pm (AEST).
Drawn ideally in gate two with Stephen Baster to ride, Lady Lakshmi was last seen running a brave second to Tango’s Daughter in the Listed Nitschke Stakes (1400m) at Morphettville on April 12.
She now gets her chance in a Group 3 at Sydney’s premier track taking on some quality types including two from the stables of Peter Snowden.
Snowden has paid up for both Miniature (barrier nine) and Engagement (barrier six), the duo having run third in their respective lead-up races.
Exceed And Excel filly Miniature was third to a Group 1 hope on the weekend Politeness in the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) here on April 12, her fifth top three finish from seven career starts.
Engagement is then on the seven day back up having run third to Beauty’s Beast in the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) at the track and distance last weekend on the back of three straight wins.
Also with multiple J H B Carr Stakes chances is Sydney’s leading lady of racing Gai Waterhouse and triple premiership winning trainer Chris Waller.
Waterhouse is represented in the inside alley by the nicely-bred Northern Meteor filly Northern Glory while their stable mate Shahad, out to improve on a dead last in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes here last Saturday, is also drawn nicely in barrier three.
Northern Glory is another PJ Bell graduate having run fourth on the wet track in the $200,000 feature.
Waller’s hopes are Champagne Cath, ninth in the PJ Bell, with the outside draw and Calming Influence second-up for this prep after failing in the wet when 16th in the PJ.
Heading the field and weights is then the ultra-consistent Kris Lees-trained Hera (58kg) who is first-up here.
The New Zealand-bred O’Reilly filly races in Australia for the first time here on the back of a Kiwi career that saw her win five of her 11 starts including the Group 2 Tristam Classic (2000m) last time out on February 8.
Before the break she ran top two in five consecutive starts, finishing off with the Tristam, eye-catching form she’ll be looking to return to here.
