2013 CB Cox Stakes Odds Update

Triple Group 1 winning grey Luckygray remains the firming favourite in the CB Cox Stakes 2013 odds to win this Saturday’s Perth major at Ascot Racecourse.

The Trevor Andrews-trained six-year-old, winner of the Railway Stakes two back, rounds out their Perth Summer Racing Carnival campaign this weekend in the $250,000 Group 2 CB Cox Stakes (2100m).

Earlier in the week they opened the $3.70 favourite in the CB Cox Stakes odds to improve on their last start second in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m).

It may be their first look at the distance, and they may be coming up against their last start conqueror in three-year-old Kingston Town champ Ihtsahymn again, but they money’s coming for Luckygray who has been backed into $3.60.

If you like Luckygray to win then now is the time to back them before their price firms further!

The price on Ihtiram gelding Ihtsahymn to win their third on the trot, the youngster having also saluted in the WA Guineas last start, is also firming.

They were $3.90 out to $4 earlier but have since come right back into $3.80 hot on Luckygray’s heels to beat them home again with a nice weight advantage.

Occupying the third line of CB Cox Stakes betting is then another big name local champ Mr Moet.

Adam Durrant’s 2012 Railway Stakes winner enjoyed a win in this race 12 months ago from a wide barrier 13 (of 15) draw.

They are right in the mix again this year drawn in gate three.

Their lead-up form however has left a bit to be desired with a seventh in the Railway and a Kingston Town fifth.

This has seen their price to bounce back with an upset win on the weekend ease out from $4.40 to $4.50.

Another notable easer in the markets is the Neville Parnham-trained Playing God out from single figures at $9 to a more generous $12.

The former dual Kingston Town winner (2010-11) has been competitive again this summer with an October Group 3 win, as well as a last start Kingston Town fourth.

Beaten only a length there the Blackfriars stallion was pulling hard during the race and could be looking for the 2100m of Saturday’s showdown.

Now into single figures at Playing God’s old price of $9, in from $10, meanwhile is Rohan, early favourite for the Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) on January 1.

Odds on the rest of the field have then remained fairly steady including those on $18 chance Elite Belle who features in the Races.com.au team’s CB Cox Stakes 2013 betting tips.
