The 2013 June Stakes drew a total of 28 nominations this year with the ballot led by Chris Waller’s multiple Group winning mare Red Tracer.

Dane Shadow five-year-old Red Tracer finished a close second behind the Guy Walter-trained Appearance in two Group 1 features over 1500m at Rosehill during the autumn before she failed in the Doncaster Mile on April 20 finishing 15th (of 18) behind Sacred Falls when jumping from the outside gate on a Heavy (10) track.

She won a Rosehill trial over 1030m on May 27 however and Waller is confident she’s ready to bounce back this weekend ahead of her grand final for the season, the $500,000 Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 22.

Red Tracer has also been nominated for the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) in Brisbane this weekend with a decision to be made on where she’ll run later in the week.

Waller has also nominated for consistent five-year-old Riva De Lago who is also still officially in the mix for the $1.36 million Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) in Queensland, last start Randwick winner She’s Clean and Bel Esprit seven-year-old Balavan in the June Stakes.

The two top-weighted horses in the June Stakes nominations meanwhile are Joe Pride’s QTC Cup failure Neeson and recent Hall Mark Stakes winner Rarefied with 60.5kg.

Red Tracer follows with 60kg, equal with the Paul Messara-trained veteran Mic Mac.

Other horses high up the ballot and the weights then include another Peter Snowden-trained runner in Skytrain (59.5kg) and Honours List six-year-old Title (58.5kg).

Also in the mix are the likes of Pentasia coming off a win in the Listed Chief De Beers (1110m) in Brisbane, the Peter Moody-trained Embark last seen running third in the Proud Miss Stakes in Adelaide and smart Lonhro colt Sessions who has won three of their five starts to date for Snowden.
