It is Ocean Park all the way for the Caulfield Stakes 2012 this afternoon with the money coming thick and fast for this odds-on Kiwi to win their third Group 1 on the trot after another withdrawal from the weight-for-age clash.

Ocean Park (Brown) will be hard to beat in today's Caulfield Stakes 2012
Gary Hennessy’s flying Underwood Stakes champ Ocean Park is now set to face just five rivals in the $400,000 Group 1 Cathay Pacific Caulfield Stakes (2000m), running as Caulfield Race 5 at 2:50pm (AEST), after two scratchings from rival trainer Peter Moody.
Moody was forced to take Manighar out of the mix earlier in the week with the triple Group 1 winning import injured.
He has also now taken out #8 Vatuvei, the VRC St Leger winner’s chances of running even a minor placing taking a dramatic blow when Manighar came out.
While there is a bit of class with the likes of Memsie Stakes winner Sincero ($4 out to $4.40) the most notable rival, really Ocean Park should have an easy time here before backing up in the 2012 Cox Plate against super colt Pierro in a fortnight at Moonee Valley.
Since Vatuvei was withdrawn Ocean Park has firmed in from $1.50 to $1.45 in the Caulfield Stakes odds, a price that may be short but one we are happy to take.
Why Ocean Park Can Win the 2012 Caulfield Stakes:
- Won the Underwood last time out against tougher class
- Unbeaten this time in
- A dual Group 1 winner
- Awesome Win (55.56%) and Place (61.54%) percentages compared to the rest of this field
- Third-up so are fit and go up from 1800m to 2000m which will suit to a tee
- Beaten just a long neck last time they saw the distance in the Rosehill Guineas during the autumn
- Small field and good gate
- Glen Boss stays on
- A definite favourite’s race in recent years
