This Saturday as part of Flemington’s Lightning Stakes Day action, a field of promising two-year-olds will take to the track to contest the $100,000 Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m).
The 2011 Talindert Stakes has attracted 22 nominations including 10 of the season’s best juveniles looking to secure their spot in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes field at Caulfield on January 26.
The shortest-priced two-year-old in the Luxbet Blue Diamond Stakes betting markets looking for a win in the Talindert Stakes on Saturday is the Tim Martin-trained Anevay.
Anevay is equal seventh-favourite at $21 to win the Blue Diamond Stakes in a fortnight, sitting 20th on the Blue Diamond Stakes order of entry.
Of the 10 Talindert Stakes entries heading towards the Blue Diamond Stakes, only last start winning Testa Rossa colt Redangelo is guaranteed a start in the $1 million feature sitting 12th on the ballot.
Peter Snowden, trainer unbeaten Elusive Quality colt Sepoy who is the red hot $2 favourite to win the Blue Diamond Stakes, has Riverbank, also by Elusive Quality, nominated for the Talindert.
Riverbank, however, is not nominated for the Blue Diamond Stakes.
Following Sepoy in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes odds at Luxbet is $6.50 second elect One Last Dance, Peter Moody’s Encosta De Lago filly keeping her flawless record intact last Saturday with a win in the Blue Diamond Prelude for Fillies.
Moody has three of his two-year-olds nominated for the Talindert on Saturday with Captain Kid, Amour Cache and Covered In Class.
Two of the three are on way to the Blue Diamond, Exceed And Excel filly Amour Cache 30th on the order of entry while Covered In Class is sitting 25th.
Luxbet have Amour Cache as a $26 chance in their early Blue Diamond betting markets while Covered In Class is a roughie at $61 after they ran a disappointing fifth behind Atomic in the Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) at Sandown on February 9.
Leading Sydney trainer David Hayes has two Talindert Stakes’ entries with Almahaab and Bladon both possible starters.
Unraced Redoute’s Choice colt Almahaab is well down the Blue Diamond Stakes order of entry sitting equal 50th while Bladon is 22nd on the ballot.
The other Blue Diamond nominees entered for the Talindert Stakes this year are Lee Freedman’s filly Petrushka (26th), last-start winner Ervbefel (27th), Blue Diamond Preview fourth placegetter Envious (equal 34th) and the John Thompson-trained Isopach (equal 50th).
