Ortensia has never really fired for trainer Tony Noonan but by consistently being around the pace the mare has a very healthy level of in today’s CF Orr Stakes. In fact at Luxbet Ortensia has been backed into third favourite behind Typhoon Tracy and Doubtful Jack.

Her recent form guide doesn’t make for overly good reading without a win since Royal Randwick in April last year. However it may not be that black and white because connections were targeting Ortensia towards a Hong Kong sprint event in December last year.

Ortensia did eventually enter the race and finished a respectable fifth considering she was at odds over $30 in a quality field.

Since then Ortensia has only had the single race at Moonee Valley. She was at $7 but was just short of a run and finished fourth by 3.5 lengths.

Overall the mare has had eight wins in her career including two victories at Group 2 level. She has also placed at Group 1 level in both the Patinack Farm Classic and Stradbroke Handicap.

Her record over 1400m isn’t overly successful but the dead track shouldn’t affect her as much as some of the other horses.

At last check Ortensia was $8.00 fixed on Luxbet and is certainly worth consideration, especially for your trifectas.
