The latest stakes race leading up to the 2011 Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival will take place at Launceston this Thursday, January 27th, with the running of the $90,000 Listed Thetote.Com.Au Stakes (1200m).
Tassie’s biggest and most anticipated series of races, the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival gives punters plenty of great racing action to enjoy a bet on including the 2011 Thetote.Com.Au Stakes.
A quality 12-horse final field has been accepted for Thursday’s weight-for-age showdown with the Peter Moody-trained Doubtful Jack leading the entries.
Drawn ideally in barrier one, Not A Single Doubt four-year-old Doubtful Jack is resuming for the season looking to return to form after finishing a distant 13th in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick on October 2.
A big drop back in class here and an ideal draw should see the Bobbie Lewis Quality winner start at the top of the odds.
Other top-rated entries in this year’s Thetote.Com.Au Stakes field include Lady Lynette and Conquering.
Quality six-year-old mare Lady Lynette has drawn wider with barrier 10, however she was able to win the Group 3 Tesio Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley during the spring from gate 12 carry 57.5kg.
Conquering is due to jump from barrier six on Thursday, the eight-year-old gelding still in excellent form having run a close second to Dream Pedlar in the Listed Tasmanian Stakes (1600m) at Elwick on December 9.
The first Group feature of the Tasmanian Summer Carnival is the Group 3 Tasmanian Derby (2200m) at Hobart Racecourse on Saturday February 5.
