Hong Kong International Races 2010 Barriers, Field & Form

The 2010 Hong Kong International Races, the four premier Group 1 features of the year in Hong Kong, are set to light up the track at Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday December 12.

The fields and barriers for all the Hong Kong International Race Day Group 1 events have been released by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, with many of the favourites faring well in the barrier draws.

The richest and most anticipated race on the card at Sha Tin this Sunday is the HK$20million Group 1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m) where defending champion and favourite in the betting Vision D’Etat has drawn well mid-field in barrier seven, one on the inside of second elect, dual Oaks winner Snow Fairy in gate eight.

Vision D’Etat is attempting to become the first dual Hong Kong Cup winner.

Another headline event is the HK$16 million Group 1 Hong Kong Mile (1600m) where British galloper Paco Boy and Hong Kong Champion Miler Able One are battling for favouritism in the odds, Paco Boy suffering a blow drawing a horror barrier 13 draw in the 14-horse field while Able One has come up trumps with barrier two set to be ridden by Aussie hoop Darren Bean.

The other two Group 1 Hong Kong International Races are the HK$14 million Group 1 Hong Kong Vase (2400m) where Melbourne Cup winner Americain makes his return to the track as the red hot favourite drawn in barrier nine and the HK$12 million Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) featuring star Singapore sprinter Rocket Man and returning champ Sacred Kingdom, drawn favourably in barrier two.

Americain is just the second horse in history to win the Melbourne Cup and then contest the Hong Kong Vase within the same season, following in the footsteps of the Bart Cummings-trained Rogan Josh in 1999, who finished a credible fifth in the Vase following his Melbourne Cup victory.

The Hong Kong Sprint is also the only race at the meeting featuring an Australian-trained horse as Tony Noonan’s classy mare Ortensia lines up from barrier five with Craig Williams in the mount, considered one of the roughies of the field but will advantage from the good starting position and nice light weight.

Below are the final field and barrier draws for all of the Hong Kong International Races and don’t forget you can and should get in on the exciting betting markets on all the day’s features with Luxbet offering generous odds for Sha Tin on Sunday!
