One of the major races this weekend is the $80,000 Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m), which is running at Ascot Racecourse in Perth on Saturday as part of the excellent line-up of races for 2010 AJ Scahill Stakes Day.
The 2010 Starstruck Classic has drawn a final field of 14 top fillies and mares and Premardal has opened as the red hot favourite in the betting markets at Luxbet.
Drawn ideally on the rails and coming off an impressive win in the Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m), Todd Harvey’s well-bred Shamardal mare Premardal has been backed in from $3.20 into $3.10 to win tomorrow.
Only three other horses in the Starstruck Classic odds are at a single-figure price with iring paying $6.50, Playcidium Mint following closely at $7 and Manila I Scream currently a $9 chance.
iring is set to jump from barrier three, the Michael Grant-trained Street Cry mare coming off a win over the mile at Ascot.
Playcidium Mint may be drawn wider in gate 10, but there has still been lots of for this brilliant young Foreplay filly as she seeks her third straight win, most recently winning the Group 3 Lee Steere Classic (1400m) here last weekend.
Manila I Scream is another runner with claims that could rise and cause an upset, the Adam Durrant-trained five-year-old coming off a win in the Better Loosen Up (1800m) at the track.
