Melbourne Cup Jockey Blake Shinn Falls in Flemington Race 3

Champion jockey Blake Shinn, engaged to ride the Bart Cummings-trained Precedence in today’s 2010 Melbourne Cup, has fallen off Zauberin in Race 3 at Flemington this morning.

With Precedence one of the top fancies in the 2010 Melbourne Cup field, connections will be waiting on the clearance of Shinn to take the mount in the Cup.

After the field bunched on the home turn, Zauberin was badly checked and slipped forward knocking jockey Shinn to the ground.

Shinn had to be stretchered off from the track, in a shocking case of bad luck.

Stay tuned for more details.

Precedence is currently at $23 chance to win the Melbourne Cup through Luxbet, but news on Shinn’s condition could affect the odds.
