With it looking like the 2010 Melbourne Cup could be run on a wet track the big question will be which horses can handle the wet the best. Take the tip from us, so many punters discount horses that are up in class when racing on a wet track but don’t, horses either handle it or they don’. Similarly punters just cant seem to drop off backing the really good horses even though they can’t handle the wet, they just think that price is too good to resist surely it can still win – it can’t. The bookies will keep winding out the prices on these horses until the punters get all emotional and cant believe its such a good price and they end up backing it, the bookies win !
Take it from us, if its a wet track on Tuesday for the Melbourne Cup these horses have the best wet track form:
- 1. Harris Tweed currently $26 with Luxbet
- 2. Descarado is $13 with Luxbet but we don’t think it will get the distance on the wet
- 3. Monaco Consul is $26 with Luxbet
- 4. Shoot Out is $31 with Luxbet
- 5. So You Think is a Champion and is $3.60 with Luxbet, he can handle the wet but we would prefer his first go over a distance of 3200m to be on a dry track
Our suggestion is with the $400 free bet offer from Luxbet, throw it on Harris Tweed at $26 – that would be a $10,000 collect from a free bet. We won’t be hearing any complaints we suspect. If you want to go each-way we can’t blame you either, it would still be a nice $6250 win. Harris Tweed will stay all day and loves the wet, he isn’t the best horse in the race but he is a swimmer.
But if you sit down and do the science and want to back the best horses in the race that can handle the wet then that has to be So You Think skinny odds but he is a champion.
On the exotics our recommended Trifecta would be to box Harris Tweed, Monaco Consul, Shoot Out and So You Think – this will cost you $12 for a $1 unit and you might as well throw them in the first four too, that will cost you $24.
