2010 Golden Slipper Meeting – Vinery Stud Stakes Final Field & Preview

The $400, 000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (also known as the Storm Queen Stakes) will take place this Saturday at the esteemed Rosehill racecourse as part of the elite day of racing scheduled at the Golden Slipper meeting.

16 emerging stayers are engaged in the 2000m feature, a capacity field. With many of the early pre-race favourites drawing wide the 2010 Vinery Stud Stakes has opened right up with a tight betting market focusing on four favourite fillies.

Currently the odds-on favourite at $4.80 with [iasbet] is the Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume, looking to atone for her last start ninth in the Coolmore Classic. Faint Perfume has drawn wide with barrier 11.

The Tony Vasil-trained Encosta De Lago filly Valdemoro is the second favourite in the betting markets, as they aim for their first black type victory. Valdemo has fared better in the barrier draw and will jump from gate six.

Also worth keeping an eye on are last start runner up in the Crown Classic, Set For Fame and the promising Gai Waterhouse-trained Once Were Wild. Once Were Wild has secured an excellent barrier with three while Set For Fame has her work cut out from her starting from gate 12.
