On Saturday the Adam Durrant-trained Proart claimed victory in the $125 000 Group 3 A.J. Scahill Stakes (1400m) at Ascot giving the in-form trainer another Perth Festival win.
The favourite at $3.80, ridden brilliantly by Peter Hall, defeated the Neville Parnham-trained Tarzi ($5) with Parnham?s other runner Elliotto ($6.50) finishing off the placings in third.
It was Proart?s first weight-for-age competition and the son of Rock Of Gibraltar showed his class and speed in the valuable sprint event when he accelerated inside the 500m to sur the early leaders and take out the title.
Other feature races held at the meeting included the $100 000 WA St Leger (2100m) won by the gifted filly Impressive Jeuney ($5.50), and the Listed Starstruck Classic (1600m) where Castletown Keys ($8) reigned supreme.
